Maiden, Mother, Crone, Lover, Warrioress

Here I will share more about the special blend of energies in the Clara necklace and the five archetypes essence.

I crafted this combination with the intention of carrying with me a spiritual ‘support group’- basically a divine feminine possy of living archetypal energies to assist me in embodying qualities I value. I wear the necklace and dose myself with the essence to remember my power, celebrate the different aspects of my personality and gifts, and to invoke the highest expression of these archetypes inside me. Sometimes I need the support of one energy more than another, so I call upon her- sometimes by touching the corresponding charm or simply by praying silently inside myself.

Please allow me to introduce you to each of them, so that your own invocations may be enriched by their magic:

  1. The Maiden: the signature of innocence, of Spring, new ideas, wild freedom, beginnings & playfulness. There is a childlike purity here and a sacred foolishness- the kind of experimental freedom needed to start things, to explore new mediums or concepts, to learn through fun and curiosity, free from inhibitions. I chose Mustard Flower essence to draw forth and ground the Maiden spirit, because it helps bring on cheerfulness, dispel the density of gloom, and re-ignite the innocent and playful spirit of delight. Symbolizing this essence in the charm necklace is St. Therese of Lisieux, also known as the ‘Little Flower’. St. Therese died young and lived a life of innocence and spoke often of the beauty of simplicity.

  2. The Mother: the signature of nurturing love, of Summer, of the full bloom. The mother represents a creative fertility that evokes a radical resilience in our ability to nurture, despite rejection, challenges, and physical limitations. It is here that the well transforms into the fountain. Kindness becomes generous, giving becomes instinctual, love becomes unconditional. Care flows from the mother like a fountain, and she can nurture the development of her children with consistency & devotion, without needing to possess or control them. The archetypal energy of Mother can be invoked for any form of creativity or relationship wherein these qualities are called for. I chose Chicory flower essence for the Mother, because it supports the expression of unconditional love as well as our ability to surrender, to ‘nurture then let go’. Symbolizing this essence in the charm necklace is Mother Mary, who has occupied a role in the collective psyche as the archetypal Mother for centuries, and her story is the iconically tragic and glorious expression of a human’s ability to ‘nurture then let go’.

  3. The Crone: the signature of wisdom, peace & equanimity. The Crone is the wise woman, the elder, and represents the aspect of self that is both discerning and nonjudgemental. Creatively, it is the most benevolent expression of the inner critic- the part of the mind that can see mistakes and progress clearly, but without identifying with either. There is a serenity and forgiveness inherent in true wisdom, and it supports harmonious change and evolution, sans drama. I chose Vervain flower essence to invoke the Crone energy because it supports us in finding balance and enjoying life with peace in our hearts. The charm representing this essence depicts St. Anne- famed as the grandmother of Jesus. Anne or Anna was an ancient Essene mystic, record keeper and priestess. By some accounts, she was a high-order magician who lived to be 600 years old, while still remaining largely in the background while Christ’s infamous story played out.

  4. The Lover: the signature of passion, romance, sensual embodiment and intimacy. The lover’s pinnacle is the mastery of sensuality and present moment awareness, through intimacy with reality. The gifts that spill from allowing ourselves to feel deeply, to ride the waves of internal emotions and the signals from the so-called external world and ‘others’ into non-dual bliss are truly infinite. Our ability to connect deeply with ourselves and others, both human and more-than-human, is directly correlated with our willingness to be present, open, and honest. The lover is about awakening and embodying the senses fully, and letting them guide us back home into the ecstatic infinite. I chose Water Violet flower essence to invoke the Lover’s medicine- as it supports us in removing walls we keep to protect ourselves from the world and in restoring a gentle openness to intimacy. Mary Magdalene represents the Lover in the charm necklace, because she was not afraid to feel and to love deeply. By some accounts, she was the feminine counterpart of Christ, his wife & fellow master healer, fully embodied. It is believed her very womb is the Holy Grail of the King Arthur legends. Many books have been written on this topic, such as The Magdalen Manuscript by Tom Kenyon & Judi Sion and The Woman with the Alabaster Jar by Margaret Starbird.

  5. The Warrioress: the signature of courage, adventure, leadership and mettle. The warrioress is not afraid to fight for justice and stand up to challenges. She is the huntress for her own sovereignty as well as protector and advocate for the dignity of all life. When we activate our inner warrioress, we rise in the eye of a sacred storm- the spiral of sovereignty and independence twirling together with the embodied call of our deep purpose within our communities, so we may support collective liberation with our unique gifts. We find and claim ourselves to find and claim our service. I chose Mimulus flower essence to assist in the activation of courage and facing of fears, so we may each do what we came here to do with confidence. Joan of Arc symbolizes this essence in the charm necklace, as a symbol of bravery, divine inspiration and selfless service.

May the blend of these powerful symbols, archetypes and essences empower your creativity and guide your embodiment with richness and grace.
